As a Spanish major in college, I hated most of the literature they made us read. It wasn’t until after graduating college that I started to discover some of the Spanish lit I’d like.<\/div>\n

I enjoy the work of Argentinian poet Jorge Luis Borges. Here’s one of his poems called “Poema a los amigos.” Enjoy!<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
No puedo darte soluciones para todos tus<\/em> problemas en la vida,
\nno tengo respuesta para tus dudas o temores.
\nPero puedo escucharte y compartirlos contigo.<\/div>\n

No puedo cambiar tu pasado ni tu futuro, pero cuando me necesites estar\u00e9 junto a ti.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\nNo puedo evitar que tropieces.
\nSolamente puedo ofrecerte mi mano para que te sujetes y no caigas.<\/div>\n
Tus alegr\u00edas, tus triunfos y tus \u00e9xitos no son m\u00edos.
\nPero disfruto sinceramente cuando te veo feliz.
\nNo juzgo las decisiones que tomas en la vida.
\nMe limito apoyarte, estimularte y ayudarte si me lo pides.
\nNo puedo trazarte limites dentro de los cuales debes actuar,
\npero s\u00ed te ofrezco el espacio necesario para crecer.<\/div>\n
No puedo evitar tus sufrimientos cuando alguna pena te parte el coraz\u00f3n,
\npero puedo llorar contigo y recoger los pedazos para armarlo de nuevo.
\nNo puedo decirte quien eres ni quien deber\u00edas ser.
\nSolamente puedo quererte como eres y ser tu amigo.<\/div>\n

Aprovechar las oportunidades, escuchar al coraz\u00f3n, acreditar la vida.
\nY tampoco tengo la pretensi\u00f3n de ser el primero, el segundo, o el tercero de tu lista.<\/p>\n

Basta que me quieras como amigo.

I can’t make it so that you don’t suffer when some pain breaks your heart,<\/div>\n
but I can cry with you and pick up the pieces to make it whole again.<\/div>\n
I can’t tell you who you are, or who you should be.<\/div>\n
